Abstract

Memristor chips are too expensive and not readily available. Hence, memristor modelling is one of the most important research areas on memristor because it helps to emulate its actual characteristics enabling testing, evaluation and validation of memristor-based applications. The most predominantly used model is the TiO2 memristor model owing to its simpler modelling equations and easy to fabricate for in-house experiments and characterizations. There are two types of TiO2 memristor model, viz: linear dopant drift model and nonlinear dopant drift model. The linear dopant drift model suffers hard switching and this issue is avoided in nonlinear model with the aid of a window function. Here it is demonstrated that the window function is added to fix the computational limitation of linear model but it lacks physical meaning. It is further emphasized that modifying the linear model is the most realistic approach to model the actual characteristics of TiO2 memristor.
