Submissions

Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

Submissions to this journal should be done using the JOUSET template in Microsoft Word. Submissions should only be made in the English language. The submission format is on A4 sized-paper (21 cm X 29.7 cm), single column with text margin of 2 cm (top, bottom and right) and 2.5 cm (left). Main text font size is 10 cm and Segoe UI font type. For original research articles, maximum length is 12 pages while for review/survey articles, maximum length is 20 pages.

Abstract

All submitted manuscripts should be accompanied by an abstract written in English and not exceeding 200 words with Segoe UI as the font type and size 10 pt. A good abstract should summarise the work and should comprise of introduction/background, problem statement, objective, methodology, quantitative results & discussion and quantitative conclusion. The abstract should be accompanied by (not more than five) keywords for effective retrieval of information online as well as indexing and abstracting. Non-standard abbreviations ae well as citations should not be used in the abstract.

Title

The title of the manuscript should accurately describe the content of the paper and not exceed 15 words. The title should be centred, bolded and have a font size of 16 pt and font type Segoe UI. The full name(s) of the author(s), complete affiliation should follow the title. In case of multiple authorship, the corresponding author should be mentioned under the “corresponding author” section of the JOUSET template along with his/her affiliation and email address. Note the email address to be provided should be institutional email addresses. All correspondences related to the paper shall be done with the corresponding author

Style

Submitted manuscripts should be structured according to the IMRaD style, i.e., 1. Introduction, 2. Methods 3. Results and Discussion, and 5. Conclusion with sub-sections. Each section and sub-section should be numbered using the Arabic numerals. SI Units should be used for all scientific and laboratory data.

The introduction explains why this research is important or necessary or important. It should provide a clear background, a clear statement of the problem describing the problem or situation that motivates the research. It should also present the relevant literature discussing the current state of research in the field so as to reveal a “gap” or problem in the field. The work should then explain how the present research is a solution to that problem or gap as well as the objective of the work/research. Hypotheses (if any) can also be presented in the introduction part. The research design and procedure (including data acquisition) to achieve the objective of the work are presented in the Methods section.

Findings of the research are presented in the Results and Discussion section and usually written in the past tense. The section also includes explanation and comments connecting them to other researches. Limitations of the research are also discussed in this section. The results and discussion section can be made in several sub-sections. Results presented should be clear and easily understood. They can be presented in figures, graphs, tables etc.

Figures and Tables

All tables and figures should be referred to in the text. They should be clearly labelled separately and numbered consecutively. Table titles should be placed on above the table while figure caption should be placed below the figures. If the figure has two parts, label each part as “(a)” and “(b)” with the caption explaining each part. In the text use Figure 4a and not Fig. 4 (a). Use ‘Figure’ and “Table” even in the middle of sentences and do not abbreviate them. Use words plus the symbol in parentheses (rather than symbols only) when labelling the Figure axes, example “Velocity (m/s)”. Illustrations of tables and figures are presented below. The table and figure fonts should be sized 9 pt.

Equations

All equations should be aligned to the left, numbered and typed using Microsoft Equation editor or Mathtype. The equations should be number using Arabic numerals (in parentheses) and numbered consecutively.

Acknowledgement

The acknowledgement section is not to be numbered and to be written in upper case. Funding sources can be acknowledged in this section.

References

References should appear in a separate Reference section at the end of the manuscripts, typed in size 9pt fonts and upper case. The references should be up-to-date, pertinent to the research work and very adequate. The IEEE referencing style should be used. Below is a guide to the IEEE reference style format. All in-text citations and references should be numbered consecutively and in square brackets [1] followed by a sentence punctuation. Multiple references should be numbered between same brackets, e.g. [2, 4-6]. In sentences, refer simply to the reference number, as in [3]; do not use “Ref. [3]” or “reference [3]” except at the beginning of a sentence, e.g. “Reference [3] shows ....”. In all references, the given name of the author or editor is abbreviated to the initial only and precedes the last name. IEEE publications must list names of all authors, up to six names. If there are more than six names listed, use the primary author’s name followed by et al. For non-IEEE publications, et al. may be used if names are not provided. All references, except those ending with URLs, should end with a period. It is highly encouraged to use reference management software such as EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero for reference management and formatting. The IEEE style can be chosen from the list of reference styles in the software.
